, 1943. Richard served his country in the army from 1965-1967, spending most of his service in Europe. He married the love of his life Julie on September 23, 1967. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage together until she passed in 2009. Richard was an avid bowler and loved getting new cars as often as he could.
Richard moved his family to Arizona in 1978 to escape the Minnesota winters. He was a meat cutter by trade for most of his life. He was a very devoted family man, always taking care of them in every way that he could. He was a phenomenal husband to his wife Julie. When she had her second stroke and could barely get out of bed, he was there with her every single day, most times for 12-14 hours each day. He made many sacrifices to bring her home where she was most comfortable. He was by her side all the way to the end, loving her nonstop every moment.
Richard loved the holidays when he got to spend more time with all of his family. He especially liked Christmas since he loved giving gifts and it brought him great joy to finish his shopping as early as he could. He loved sweets, his favorite being chocolate covered cherries. He was a proud father, loving son and husband and a model of a man for his children.
He is survived by his children, Geoff (Michelle Nedry), Elizabeth (Terry Wheelington) and William; his grandchildren, Chelsie, Treyce, Alexander and Rachel. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday November 21, 2020 at Christ Greenfield Church, 425 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert, AZ 85234.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Greenfield on Saturday, November 21 at noon.
