In Loving Memory of Richard Alan South

January 4th, 1961 – July 17th, 2025

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Richard South, age 64, of Gilbert, AZ, who died on July 17th, 2025 suddenly of a heart attack. Though his passing was unexpected and way too soon, Richard had been fighting hard for his health with strength, courage, and determination—qualities that defined the way he lived his life.

Richard was a beloved husband, a devoted father, a proud papa, a loving son, a loyal brother and friend to many. He was the rock of our family—steady, compassionate, and always there when you needed him. Even in the midst of personal struggles, Richard put others first, showing up with kindness, humor, and unwavering love.

Richard is survived by his cherished wife, Tina, his children Bradley South & (Sarah South), Jared South, Dylon Buchanan (fiancé, Mallory Thompson) & Dawson Buchanan & (Lacey Buchanan), and his grandchildren Maddison South, Reagan South, McKinley South, Kennedy South, Raelynn Buchanan & Beau Buchanan.. He is also survived by his mother, Joyce South, his siblings Deborah McEvoy (John McEvoy), Jill Smith (Bill Smith) Michelle Allee (Don Allee) & Bill South (Stephanie South), and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Services to honor and celebrate Richard’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Redemption Gilbert,1820 W. Elliot Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85233

• Family Viewing: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

• Public Viewing: 10:00 AM

• Funeral Service: 11:00 AM

A private family viewing will also be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary14 W. Hulet Dr., Chandler, AZ 85225.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Chandler Compadres in Richard’s memory—a cause that meant a great deal to him.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in the love he gave, the example he set, and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
