Roger Allen Schumacher

On Wednesday, December 2, 2020 Roger A. Schumacher joined his parents

Vincent and Lucille Schumacher in heaven. He is survived by his wife Patricia of 55 years; children Joe, Christine, Peggy and 7 grandchildren Brittnie, Ashleigh, Christopher, Kortni, Tyler, Bailey and Zane; siblings Mark, Patrick, Jane, Joyce and their families.

Roger was born in Marion, Indiana and shortly after moved to Sigel, Illinois.

He attended grade school there and then moved to Chandler, Arizona in 1957, where he started Chandler high school and then graduated in 1961. Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Army. During his 3 years in the Army he was involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He returned home to Chandler, AZ and became employed by General Motors Proving Grounds in Mesa, AZ for 43 years until he retired from there in 1998. During that time he joined the Knights of Columbus and reached the highest office as state deputy of Arizona. He also became involved with St. Joseph Youth Camp and served as president on the board of directors, and began a program which is still active today for the mentally challenged.

His true passion was working with wood and cars. His favorite part of wood working was making something amazing out of nothing. He never turned down an opportunity to work on any vehicle. And made sure that his daughters and granddaughters would be as proficient, if not better, than the boys.

He loved his children and grandchildren very much and each and every one of them had a very special place in his heart.

We have NEVER met another man with as much patience as he had. He never said no to anyone that needed any kind of help even the smallest project. He will be greatly missed by every one of his family members.

Roger’s serves will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 15

th

at 1 pm

It will begin with a Rosary at 1pm followed by the Chalice ceremony and mass to follow.

Due to the current circumstances the church will provide a live stream of the services on that day. We will post the link as soon as we receive it.
