In Loving Memory
Ruth Holquin, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, partner, and friend, entered into the presence of the Lord on July 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. She was 84 years old.
Ruth was born on January 3, 1942 to Antonio and Arcenia Marquez, who preceded her in death. While she lived in Mesa in her later years she was a longtime resident of Chandler, Arizona and a proud graduate of Chandler High School.
Following high school, Ruth married Arthur Holquin, and welcomed two daughters, Kimberly and Karen. Ruth dedicated more than 35 years of service to Penn-Mor before later working as a cashier at AutoZone for many years until her retirement.
Ruth was divorced later in life and then shared the last 30 years of her life with her companion Henry Montes.
Ruth will be remembered for her selfless heart, unwavering kindness, and deep love for her family and friends. She always placed the needs of others before her own and found joy in caring for those she loved. Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She had a profound devotion to the Blessed Virgen Mary and faithfully prayed the Rosary every day at 3:00pm, a cherished tradition that reflected her steadfast faith and trust in god.
She leaves behind a loving family, who will forever cherish her memory: her daughters, Karen Holquin and Kimberly Somborovich (Jason Best); her devoted partner Henry Montes; her brothers, Louis Marquez (Bertha), Jesse Marquez, Tony Marquez (Rachel), and Michael Marquez; and her sisters, Gloria Garcia (Antonio), Rosemary Carrillo (Alex), Angie Rosales, Arsenia Chavez (Raul), Sylvia Ruiz and Jenny Horton.
She was also the proud grandmother of Joseph Somborovich, Rudy Maldonado (Noemi), Karolyn Maldonado, Jessica Koprivec (John), Jaclyn Jensen (Noah) and Jazmin Maldonado ( Jes Cresa). Ruth was further bless with 12 great-grandchildren , along with many nieces, nephews, extended family member, and dear friends who will deeply miss her.
Ruth's legacy is one of faith, compassion, generosity, and unconditional love. Though her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing she has been welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior. Her gentle spirit and enduring example will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 10:30 AM with a Rosary at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 230 W. Galveston Street, Chandler, AZ 85225. A Graveside Service will follow at Valley of the Sun Catholic Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ 85248.
