Ruth Merlene Davies Boice

, 80, was born in Durango, Colorado on November 16, 1940 to Hugh Richard Davies and Lelia Holgate.  Her preferred name was Merlene.  Merlene lived in Durango, Farmington and Aztec NM.  She graduated from Aztec High school.  She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Western Canadian mission.  She met her future husband, Robert Boice, at a church class in Farmington.  They were married on June 2, 1964 in the Salt Lake City Temple.  They were the proud parents of three boys, Dale, Dan and Kent.  They lived in many places through the years.  These include Moab Utah, Farmington NM, Espanola NM, Santa Fe NM, Kaneohe Hawaii and Tempe AZ.  She resided in Tempe, AZ at the time of her death.  Merlene worked as bookkeeper, real estate agent and finally as lease administrator for all the United States for American Express. She was in declining health from 2001 when she retired from AMEX to the present.  She was a good mother, wife and grandmother.  At present she has three sons Dale(Gailine), Dan(Miyuki), Kent(Rowena), seven grandchildren, Makoto, Yukino, Kasumi, Joshua, Leinani, Kealani, Nicholas and one great granddaughter, baby K, expected birth within weeks, one sister Claudia and 2 brothers Ronald and Larry.  Her parents, one sister Leanna and one brother Richard have passed on.   She was a faithful member of the church and spend many years working on genealogy.  She had a generous and kind heart and was loved by many that knew her.
