Sandra M. Goins

Died 19 July 2025

Our beloved Sandy, 75, died July 19th after a brief illness. She was able to say goodbye to her husband, Glenn, and five of her seven children, before leaving us.

Sandy was born into a nomadic military family stationed at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. She met her husband at the Williams Air Force Base Teen Club in 1964. Her father retired from the Air Force in 1965 and they returned to the ancestral farm in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Sandy attended her fourth High School in as many years.

Sandy attended Indiana University Southeast before transferring to Purdue University in West Lafayette, graduating in 1971 with a degree in early elementary education. She taught Kindergarten at Charlestown (Indiana) Elementary School before marrying Glenn in 1985.

They were posted at The Presidio of San Francisco, California until Glenn’s retirement from the United States Army. They returned to southern Indiana and resided in New Albany, Indiana while Glenn attended Mid-Americas College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville.

From there, they moved to Blytheville, Arkansas where Glenn worked as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. But the wanderlust overtook the family and they returned to Chandler, Arizona when Glenn accepted a teaching position at Carl Hayden Community High School.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Glenn, their seven living children, and 12+ grandchildren, who she lovingly called our MOTHS (Mine, Ours, Theirs, and His) from her blended family: daughter Catherine Hubler of Austin, Texas; son Geoff Goins of Leesville, Louisiana (wife Nancy, grandsons Ray and John); son Fritz Goins of Seattle, Washington (wife Samantha, daughter Nadejda, and baby boy to be born in December); son, Scott Goins (wife, Amie, grandsons Daniel and Aaron); daughter Seana McPherson (husband Andy, granddaughters, Natalie, Megan, and Jorie); daughter Susana Roniss of Phoenix (grandsons Alfonso IV and Andres); and daughter Arleth Garcia of Buckeye, Arizona (husband Lucio, grandson Nate, and granddaughter Yaretzi). She was predeceased by her son, Digger (Douglas Ian Goodwin Goins), who is awaiting her arrival in heaven.
