Socorro Elisa “Elsie” Valdez

, 83, of Chandler, AZ passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by her side.  Elsie was born in Tucson, AZ on January 13, 1939, to Pete and Antonia Chacon (Olea).  She was the oldest daughter and a second mother to her younger siblings.  Shortly after moving to Chandler, she met her future husband, Joe Valdez, the love of her life.  They celebrated 61 years of marriage this past June.  Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was devoted to her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.  The holidays were a favorite time of year, and she treasured the time spent with family.  Elsie held a number of jobs over the years, her final job, as a librarian for the Chandler Public Library, which she retired from after 20 years.  She also spent time volunteering at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary-Basha Elementary, and Seton Catholic High School.  When she wasn’t busy working or volunteering, she loved traveling with her husband Joe.

Elsie is preceded in death by her parents Pete and Antonia Chacon, her siblings, Pete Chacon Jr., Anthony Chacon, Helen Granillo, Ernest Chacon and Michael Chacon.

She is survived by her husband Joe, daughters Kathryn Gonzalez (Pete), Sylvia Krick (Jim), Theresa Baker (John) and son Joseph, brother George Chacon and sister Carolyn Chacon

Grandchildren: Christopher Gonzalez (Sarah), Selena Zapata (Jeremy), Nicholas Gonzalez, Kelsey Brown (Will), Kaleb Krick, Kendall Krick, Ronnie Gomez (Erin), Randall Gomez (Briana), Joseph Gomez, Damon Baker and Elijah Baker.

Great-Grandchildren: Lucy and Elsie Gonzalez, Max Gonzalez, Mia and Marc Zapata, Brenton and Brynlee Brown, Daizey Gomez, Ronin Gomez, Xavier and Zachary Gomez.

Elsie is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.

We love you and will miss you Elisa, Mom, Nana ❤

Viewing and Rosary will be held on Thursday, November 3rd

from 6-8 pm at Bueler’s Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Dr. Chandler, AZ 85225

Funeral mass on Friday, November 4th

at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, burial immediately following at Valley of the Sun Cemeter
