Susann Lorraine Van Allen Davis, 67, of Chandler passed away on January 28, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Susann was born on July 19, 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The first child of Joe Ray and Mary Ann (Smith) Van Allen. When she was three months old, they relocated to Queen Creek, Arizona where they raised their family along with her brother, Joe Ray Van Allen Jr. “Brother”. Susann also has a half-brother she loved dearly, Olelo Smith of Kahului, Maui.
Growing up in Queen Creek is something she was deeply proud of. She was raised in the country near a close knit family and a community who became family. She attended Combs Elementary School where she met lifelong friends, some of whom she was still currently in contact with. Her childhood was filled with summer days of swimming in irrigation ditches and playing with countless cousins who were more like siblings.
Susann attended Chandler High School where she met her former spouse, Carey Davis, whom she shared four children with: Kyndra (Richard) Carrillo, Brandon (Cristin) Davis, Andrea (Jason) Magers and Carey Lynn “Kalynn” (Jordan) Wilkinson. In addition to her biological children, she helped raise Jamie Lane and Mandy Garlish along with her longtime companion, Danny Lane.
Susann remained in Chandler, Arizona where she raised her children. She was a homemaker for 16 years following the birth of her first child. She devoted one hundred percent of her time to raising her children. She instilled in them the value of family and togetherness. The same values she was raised with. She built something rare and lasting: A family that was bonded not just by blood, but by shared love, loyalty and quality time spent together. She taught us to speak honestly, love fiercely, and always be unapologetically ourselves.
Her home was always a place to gather. The doors were always open, you didn’t need an invitation, and everyone always felt welcome. To Susann, a stranger was just a friend she hadn’t met yet. She was a friend to all and always the life of the party. There was never a dull moment when Susann was around.
She was affectionately known as “Mema” to her Grandchildren: Kylie (Tyler), Kelsey, Camryn, Kinley, Payton, Tate, Addisyn, Kru, Lennon, Brysen, Kennedy, and Jordi; Great Grandchildren: Ireland, Kasen and Brooks. Honorary Grandchildren: Savannah, Marrissa, Kaylie, Aiden, Codi and Jaxson. Her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. She took pleasure in not being a “normal” grandma. All the kids knew, the rules were loose with Mema. Things like bedtimes or limits on sugar didn’t apply at her house. Her house was the fun house where they could dig for worms, plant a garden or just run wild freely (shoes & clothing optional).
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this difficult time. Susann was loved beyond measure and will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
