Thomas Patrick Alexander, aged 50, passed away on September 24, 2024, in Chandler, AZ. Born on March 28, 1974, Tom grew up in Mesa and was a graduate of Dobson High School. He obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of Arizona in 1997 and was a proud Wildcat through and through.
Tom leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years, Anna, his parents, Dennis and Maureen, his brother, John and his wife Yumiko, his nephews Sean and Ian, his beloved dogs Odin and Fury and too many friends to count. He was greeted on the other side by his dogs Harley and Loki who proceeded him in 2022.
Tom was known for his love of cooking. His specialties were backyard pizzas (in a brick pizza oven he built) and pulled pork. With his wife, he would open their home to family, friends and anyone who didn’t have somewhere else to go for a Thanksgiving feast that couldn’t be rivaled. The more people he was cooking for the happier he was.
Tom was a fun-loving individual. He never met someone who didn’t become his friend. And if you were a friend, you were family. He enjoyed going to Diamondback baseball games and frequently told the story of going to the World Series Game 6. His home office is filled with memorabilia. He would joke that as soon as he obtained a signed ball from a player, the Diamondbacks would trade him.
Tom had a love of movies. He would watch his favorites hundreds of times. He would annoy his wife by fast forwarding them to only his favorite parts, explaining he had already seen it so why watch the parts he didn’t like. His knowledge of Blues Brother trivia was unrivaled. He would work in obscure movie quotes into everyday conversations – but didn’t like when others did it to him. It upset him to no end when John and Anna would joke about wanting a double burger.
Tom had a passion for classic cars. He loved working on them and taking them to car shows. For those who truly knew him they wouldn’t be surprised that he left Anna with 2 unfinished car projects in the garage. He enjoyed 4-wheeling, often exploring rugged terrains. During Covid he took up metal cutting, becoming a talented metal artist. Friends and family proudly display his work in their homes.
Professionally, Tom dedicated over two decades to Intel, contributing significantly from 1997 to 2023. He recently joined Footprint in 2023. He was a talented and smart engineer. He could be strong headed and tuff, but it was from his drive for quality and perfection. Former coworkers have shared stories of him being a great peer, great mentor, sharp, funny, a genuine human and an all-around great guy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 26, 2024, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and celebrate his vibrant life. Tom’s love for life and his ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him will be deeply missed.
