, 44, of Phoenix Arizona, passed away on June 29th 2022 of natural causes. Tonya has been preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Maxine Pechin, Milton and Elvira Conant, her cousins Jason Barnett and Zalan Martinez. Tonya leaves behind her Husband Craig Peterson and son Curtis Peterson and Chase Peterson; parents Jim Pechin and Wife Betty Pechin, of Arizona, Marlene Hoskins and Husband Gary Hoskins; sisters Nicky Black and husband Adam Black of Teluride, Co and Stacy Stroud and Husband Bobby Stroud of Elkhart, Ks; multiple nephews and nieces; extended family and friends.
Tonya was born in Colby Kansas on February 25, 1978 but then moved to Pagosa Springs, Colorado when she was 4 years old. She graduated from Pagosa Springs high school in 1996, married Craig Peterson in 1999 and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2000. Tonya and Craig’s son Curtis was born shortly after moving to Phoenix and their second son, Chase, was born in 2005.
Tonya spent a number of years in banking, mortgage and raising her boys but enjoyed crafting, cooking and photography. She crocheted many baby blankets over the years for friends and family. Sewed blankets, pillows and curtains from scratch and added bling to her clothing, shoes, finger nails, and phone.
Tonya’s biggest joy in life was her family. She went to the greatest measures to bring family together and assist in any needs they needed. She has multiple friends that she would consider her family.
Tonya had a love for animals. She wanted them all to be her pets. At the time of passing, Tonya had three dogs, two turtles, a hamster and a fish. Tonya had recently lost the family cat and a hamster so she wanted to replace them with two kittens being raised by her son Curtis.
Tonya was a unique sole and was loved dearly by her friends and family. Her loss has left a hole that no amount of bling can fill to make up for her not being with us. She will live in our hearts forever.
